Sprue – Table Chair
This project explores observation and evidence of process, taking inspiration from London’s industrial landscape and the manufacturing methods that shaped it. Sprue responds to the overlooked characteristics of sand casting, drawing attention to the sprues and risers (typically discarded elements) as potential sites of junction and storytelling. These forms reveal the path of molten metal: entering at one point, cooling, and contracting as the material set. Rather than erasing traces of production, this work embraces them, allowing the sand’s imprint to remain visible on the surface, a record of process embedded within the object itself.
